Koen Koch Foundation

With your membership fee of the VIFF or with your donation you support the Koen Koch Foundation thus helping students and trainees with their studies on the First World War in the Ypres Salient or on the IFFM collection.

In this way the VIFF want to continue the ideas and work of Koen Koch. Koen (Amsterdam, 30 June1945 –21 January 2012) was head of Political Studies at Leiden University and professor of International Relations at the State University, Groningen. The mechanisms of war and peace were his special fields of interest. Apart from this, his knowledge of WW1 battlefields was astonishing and resulted in a large number of publications and in the tours along the battlefields in Belgium, France and Gallipoli he organized over a period of fourteen years. As a VIFF he frequently was our guide on battlefield and literary trips.

Besides, he was the chair of the jury for the triennial Ypres Peace Prize and a member of the scientific board of the new In Flanders Fields Museum.
